Visitor injured at Kauai waterfall
A 28-year-old Las Vegas woman was critically injured yesterday while swinging from a rope at Kipu Falls in Kauai, according to a Kauai County news release.
The woman was expected to be brought to the Queen's Medical Center yesterday.
While swinging from a rope to drop into a pool beneath the falls, the woman did not let go and hit the side of a rocky wall at 11:08 a.m., the release said. She fell into the water and was rescued by her companions and bystanders.
Firefighters carried her to a waiting ambulance, which took her to Wilcox Hospital.

Burglary suspect nabbed on lanai
A 20-year-old man was arrested yesterday after being caught trying to break into an apartment.
At about 2:30 yesterday morning at a Wilder Avenue apartment complex, a 40-year-old woman heard noise on her lanai and saw a shadow, police said. The suspect was allegedly trying to slide open the glass door.
The woman called police while the suspect climbed to other lanais. Police said when they arrived, officers saw the suspect trying to hide on one of the lanais.
The suspect surrendered and was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree burglary.

Man arrested after woman's beating
A woman was hospitalized Thursday night after a man beat her repeatedly.
At about 7:35 p.m. a 38-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman argued at a Fort Weaver Road home in Ewa Beach.
Police said the man allegedly punched the woman in the face several times. The woman was hospitalized for possible broken facial bones. She was reported to be in fair condition. The man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
Man allegedly chokes roommate
A 24-year-old Ewa man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly choked his female roommate in their apartment.
Police said the man straddled the woman on her chest and choked her, causing redness and scratches to her neck, at about 11:35 p.m. After releasing her, he allegedly grabbed the woman's cell phone and threw it against a wall. The woman, 23, ran from the apartment and called police from a neighbor's home.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of felony abuse, interfering with the reporting on an emergency and fourth-degree criminal property damage.
