3 Vulcans on all-region team
Three members of the Hawaii-Hilo women's volleyball team were selected to the AVCA NCAA Division II All-West Region team yesterday.
Junior middle blockers Fabiane Seben and Josimara Pinheiro were among the 14 players selected regionally. Honorable mention went to Vulcans sophomore setter Emily Tooker.
BYU-Hawaii men ranked 15th
The Brigham Young-Hawaii men's basketball team improved to 15th in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II poll from the pre-season ranking of 23rd.
The Seasiders notched two wins last week over then-No. 8 Winona State, last year's Division II national champions.
BYU-Hawaii improved to 3-0 last night with a 108-92 win over Western New Mexico. Lucas Alves scored 28 points in 24 minutes of play to lead the Seasiders.
» Hawaii Pacific won its first game of the season—an 82-78 victory over Pacific University yesterday at Blaisdell Arena.
Willis McPhee scored 14 first-half points to give the Sea Warriors a 47-40 lead at the break, and Jason Curtis knocked in 13 second-half points for a team-high 20.
Pacific's Carson Bartlett led all scorers with 22.
