Stanford topples Hawaii in tennis
Hilary Barte (ranked fourth nationally in singles) led Stanford to a 6-1 tennis victory over Hawaii yesterday at the Grand Wailea Resort on Maui. In No. 1 singles, Barte routed UH's Sophie Kobuch 6-1, 6-0.
Anja-Vanessa Peter got the only singles win for UH, beating Veronica Li at No. 4, 6-3, 6-4.
» Alex Clayton (ranked fourth) outlasted Hawaii's Dennis Lajola (89th) 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 1 singles as the Cardinal men also won 6-1.
UH's Leo Rosenberg beat Richard Wise (66th) 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (3)..

Seasiders capture volleyball awards
League champion Brigham Young-Hawaii took three of the major awards as the PacWest volleyball all-conference honors were announced yesterday.
Senior setter LeeAnn Mapu was named the conference player of the year and Losaline Faka'osi took freshman of the year accolades, while Wilfred Navalta was tabbed coach of the year.
Hawaii Pacific's Tricia Yoshimura is libero of the year.
