1. Long to Lane

The Setup: Hawaii 7, Idaho 7, 2:05 remaining first quarter, Hawaii ball, first and 10 at Hawaii 18

The Play: WR Malcolm Lane gets behind his defender on a streak pattern and QB Greg Alexander hits him in stride for what looks like an easy 82-yard touchdown.

The Impact: Hawaii takes the lead, which it never relinquishes, with its longest play from scrimmage of the season.

Lane: “;I love when a corner plays bump-and-run. As soon as I beat him I just looked back for the ball and I knew Greg was going to put it on the money.”;

2. Dowling's pick

The Setup: Hawaii 14, Idaho 7, 14:15 remaining, second quarter, Idaho ball, third and 3 at Idaho 17

The Play: DE John Fonoti hits QB Nathan Enderle just as he releases a pass. DB Jameel Dowling intercepts and returns for what appears to be a touchdown. But replay review reveals Dowling steps on the out-of-bounds line at the 2.

The Impact: RB Kealoha Pilares runs it in on the next play and Hawaii leads 21-7. Keao Monteilh and Desmond Thomas also intercept passes for Hawaii later in the game.

Dowling: “;The D-line had a lot of pressure and we did our job, we played our alignment and assignment.”;

3. Alexander to Lane again

The Setup: Hawaii 28, Idaho 10, 10:10 remaining, third quarter, Hawaii ball, first and 19 at Idaho 36

The Play: Alexander finds Lane open again, this time for a 36-yard touchdown.

The Impact: Hawaii maintains its momentum after halftime, coming out of the break with a nine-play, 73-yard drive consuming more than 5 minutes. Lane finishes with four catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Alexander completes 14 of 24 passes for 264 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Hawaii coach Greg McMackin: “;Greg Alexander's really bringing us together. The package is just opening up to him and he's exciting everybody. The offense has a swagger now.”;

4. Stonewalled

The Setup: Hawaii 35, Idaho 10, 8:02 remaining, third quarter, Idaho ball, fourth and 1 at Hawaii 20

The Play: RB Deonte Jackson is given the ball and tries the right side of the line, but is stuffed by DE David Veikune and several other Hawaii defenders.

The Impact: Idaho's bid to get back in the game is stuffed deep in Hawaii territory. Jackson, one of the WAC's best runners, is limited to 49 yards on 17 carries.

Hawaii DT Keala Watson: “;A lot of guys have gotten a lot of playing time and we've gotten comfortable at our positions. Now guys are always fresh and we can make a lot of plays.”;

5. Onside try

The Setup: Hawaii 42, Idaho 17, 2:00 remaining, first quarter, Hawaii ball, first and 10 at Hawaii 36

The Play: After scoring a touchdown for the first time since the opening drive, Idaho attempts an onside kick. Richard Torres recovers for Hawaii and returns the ball to the Idaho 4.

The Impact: aniel Libre runs 4 yards on the next play for the game's final touchdown. Idaho had recovered four of six onside kicks going into the game.

McMackin: “;Our special teams did a good job against a team with a very good kicking game.”;
