Pedestrian struck while jaywalking

A 38-year-old man was in critical condition today after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing McCully Street at 11:23 p.m. Friday, police said.

The man was not in a crosswalk and was jaywalking when he darted into traffic and was hit by a Waikiki-bound 2002 Chevrolet on the inner lane of McCully Street, just makai of Kapiolani Boulevard, police said.

The man was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition, but his condition worsened to critical.

Police said speed and alcohol were not factors for the driver, a 54-year-old man. Police are still investigating whether alcohol was a factor for the victim.

 

Stolen car sighting yields 2 arrests

Police arrested two people after they were found in a stolen car Wednesday night.

About 11:45 p.m., an officer noticed a vehicle make a traffic violation in Kalihi, police said. The officer checked the license plate number and learned that the vehicle was reported stolen recently.

The officer pulled the vehicle over at Kaaahi Street and Kaaahi Place. The 36-year-old male driver was arrested on suspicion of auto theft, while his 34-year-old female passenger was arrested on unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.

Autopsy scheduled for pair found dead

Police are awaiting the autopsy of two people found dead in their Ko Olina home Friday evening.

The autopsy of a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman is scheduled to be performed tomorrow, said the city Medical Examiner's Office.

At about 5 p.m. Friday, police were called to the home to check on the occupants' welfare. Officers discovered the body of the woman in the living room, and the man's body in the enclosed garage.

Police said one death was classified as a suicide, and the other as an unattended death.

The identities of both people are not yet being released, the Medical Examiner's Office said.

 

Alleged robbery suspect arrested

A 20-year-old man called police Friday when he spotted a teenager who allegedly stole an iPod from him in August while he sat at a bus stop.

Officers found the 17-year-old boy sitting at the bus stop when they arrived at 2:40 p.m.

The man told officers the boy and another male had assaulted him at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 in Makakilo.

The suspect was arrested for investigation of second-degree robbery and later released pending further investigation.

 

WINDWARD OAHU

3 teens accused of robbery at park

Police arrested three teens who allegedly robbed a 15-year-old girl of her backpack at a Kailua park and punched her repeatedly.

Police said two 15-year-old girls and a 16-year-old boy allegedly confronted the victim at Kailua District Park, located at 21 S. Kainalu Drive, while she was walking at 1:05 p.m. Thursday.

One of the girls allegedly pulled the victim to the ground and punched her repeatedly, police said. The other girl then allegedly punched her in the ribs and tried to steal her backpack, police said.

The boy allegedly grabbed some cash and a cell phone from her hand, police said.

The suspects fled in a vehicle. Police got a license plate number and caught the three teens a short time later.

They were arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
