All Hawaiian islands are under a flash flood watch for tonight through late Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters expect heavy rain to spread across the islands from the southeast. The greatest threat from rainfall initially will be over Kauai and Oahu, the weather service said.
At 3:30 p.m. today, the heaviest showers were moving over Schofield Barracks and along the H-2 freeway, according to forecasters.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop and lead to flash flooding. Residents should be prepared to take action if a flash flood warning is issued, officials said.
