Sijsling captures Honolulu Futures title

Second-seeded Igor Sijsling beat sixth-seeded Daniel Yoo 6-3, 7-6 (3) to win the Honolulu Futures tennis tournament final yesterday at Central Oahu Regional Park.

Sijsling was not as fortunate in doubles. He and partner Matt Reid, the top-seeded team, dropped a 6-0, 4-6 (10-4) decision to unseeded Andreas Siljestrom and James Ludlow.

Seasiders seeded eighth in regional

Brigham Young-Hawaii received the No. 8 seed at the NCAA Division II West Regional volleyball tournament, the school announced yesterday.

The Seasiders (16-8) meet top-seeded and host school Cal State San Bernardino (25-3) on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Hawaii time.

The Coyotes are ranked No. 2 in the AVCA Division II poll.
