Soak up spa tips with book

; In these tough economic times, relaxation is essential to staying healthy, and a day at the spa is one way to rejuvenate one's body.

If money woes interfere, check out Cheryl Chee Tsutsumi's new book, “;An Island Spa Experience.”; In it, there are tips to creating a spa at home so you'll always have an escape, without spending lots of bucks.

The book also has a profile of 12 native Hawaiian healers, recipes to keep the body serene inside and out, a list of nature's medicines and what they do, how to choose a spa that's right for you, and a description of massage techniques and healing methods such as color therapy, aromatherapy, music therapy, hydrotherapy, movement therapy and meditation.

There is also a section on special indulgences; for example, the Mandara Spa at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa offers a 2 1/2 -hour Exploration in Chocolate, where couples enjoy a body scrub of sugar, macadamia nuts, macadamia nut oil and unsweetened dark chocolate.

If you're planning on buying this book, get it signed by the author at Kahala Mall's Holi-Diva Day, 5 to 9 p.m. next Saturday. There will be massage demonstrations, a Hawaiian herbal medicine display, and more. Plus, Island Heritage will be offering a drawing for a gift basket.
