An 18-year-old Nuuanu man who allegedly committed four violent crimes while 17 was charged as an adult after Family Court waived jurisdiction.

Shaw M. Awber was arrested noon yesterday at Circuit Court.

He was charged in a shooting case and three assaults from December to June.

Awber was charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, three counts of second-degree attempted murder and firearms charges for allegedly shooting at a pickup truck with 10 occupants at about 1:40 a.m. June 29 on the H-1 freeway.

Awber, riding in a Chevy Blazer, allegedly fired at least 10 rounds, striking the truck, which was traveling 60 to 70 mph, a court document said. Two other cars were also chasing the truck, a court document shows.

A police affidavit said the targets of the attempted murders include a 23-year-old man driving the truck and three teenage girls. The other occupants were also teenage girls.

One round struck a front tire, causing it to blow out near the Hickam Air Force Base offramp, and bullet fragments were found inside the truck, the court document said. No one was injured.

Awber was charged with second-degree assault for allegedly striking a 21-year-old Kalihi man in the head repeatedly with a baseball bat at 9:45 p.m. May 1.

Awber was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one of first-degree property damage for allegedly attacking two men sleeping in a car about 12:40 a.m. Dec. 3. He used a baseball bat to smash the car, then hit the men, court documents said.

Awber was charged second-degree assault after he and other males allegedly attacked three men walking on McNeill Street near Dillingham Boulevard later on Dec. 3. Awber allegedly used a golf club, striking one person so hard that the head of the club broke off, then allegedly stabbing the victim in the stomach with the broken shaft.

Awber's bail was set at $300,000.

Awber was arrested Aug. 28 and placed in the Alder Street detention home.
