Medical group honors Pressler

The Hawaii Medical Association selected Dr. Virginia Pressler, Hawaii Pacific Health executive vice president of business development, for its first Healthcare Administrator of the Year award.
“;We applaud her unselfish efforts to improve public health, to expand access to care for the uninsured and to tackle complex health policy challenges,”; said HMA President Cynthia Goto.
David Rasmussen-Silverstein, 19, of Mililani is one of 280 young people who completed 1,700 hours of service during a 10-month term for an education award of nearly $5,000, a living stipend, housing and more. He will graduate from the Eastern Region of the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps next week.
The Hawaii Pacific Gerontological Society received a $25,000 gift from the Nadao and Mieko Yoshinaga Foundation to fund nursing scholarships, administered by the Hawaii Community Foundation. The scholarships will be given to nursing students who are pursuing careers in elder care.
