BIRMINGHAM, Ala. » A Hawaii man has been charged with violating Alabama securities law in a fraud case that cost Alabama investors at least $400,000.

The Alabama Securities Commission said Thursday that 53-year-old William Randle Villa of Maui has been extradited to Alabama and held in lieu of $200,000 bail after an indictment was handed down in Marshall County.

The commission said Villa was hired by three others to solicit investments for Lifeline Imaging Systems Inc., which took in $400,000 from state investors for “;body imaging centers”; in California and other states. More than $15 million was raised to fund Lifeline, the commission said.

The three accused of hiring Villa were arrested in December.
