Historian talks about 19th-century textiles

Tory Laitila, former curator at Mission Houses Museum and costume historian, will share his knowledge of 19th century textiles noon Tuesday in the Mission Houses Museum Visitor Center.

The museum is located at 553 S. King St.

Laitila will talk about fibers, weaves and fabrics used in women's and men's fashions during that time period. The program is offered in conjunction with the museum's current exhibition, “;Fundamental Fiber: Lauhala, Tapa & Quilts.

Admission is free and you're welcome to bring a brown bag lunch.

Spanish music gets Honolulu Brass touch

The Honolulu Brass presents a musical tour of Spain in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Doris Duke Theatre, Honolulu Academy of Arts.

The quintet will perform pieces by Spanish composers Issac Albeniz, Manuel De Falla and Tomas Luis de Victoria, along with selections from Georges Bizet's “;Carmen.”;
