Kalaheo's Cheng making her soccer statement

It didn't take long for Lauki'i Cheng (Kalaheo '08) to make her presence felt for the Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team.
Cheng was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference defensive player of the year this week after leading the Rangers to their first undefeated regular season.
The freshman fullback anchored one of the top defenses in Division II. The Rangers posted 10 shutouts in conference play and outscored opponents 46-3 for the season.
“;I knew, as soon as she stepped on campus, that we had a special player,”; coach Troy Fabiano said in a press release. “;She does not back down and has a great impact on our back line.”;
Cheng also had two goals and four assists this season.
Her sister, Kahili (Kalaheo '07), is a sophomore on the team and started all 15 games as well, finishing with the exact same stats (two goals, four assists).
Wisconsin-Parkside begins its postseason Sunday, hosting Missouri-St. Louis in the quarterfinals of the GLVC tournament.

FOOTBALL
» California junior defensive lineman Tyson Alualu (Saint Louis '05) had six tackles, two sacks and two pass breakups in a 41-20 victory over UCLA. Alualu is eighth on the team with 29 tackles this season and tied for the team lead in sacks with four.
» Nevada linebacker Jared Silva-Purcell (Saint Louis '06) returned home and made two tackles in a 38-31 loss to Hawaii.
» Oregon sophomore quarterback Jeremiah Masoli (Saint Louis '06) completed 17 of 26 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown, and added eight carries for 85 yards and a touchdown in a 54-20 win over Arizona State. Masoli was named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 player of the week for his efforts.
» Weber State sophomore quarterback Cameron Higgins (Saint Louis '06) hit 21 of 28 passes for 334 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-14 victory over Northern Arizona that pushed the Wildcats into sole possession of first place in the Big Sky Conference. Junior Cody Nakamura (Baldwin '05) caught four passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.
» Montana-Western freshman quarterback Micah Mamiya (Saint Louis '08) threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns and added 35 rushing yards in a 41-38 loss to Eastern Oregon. Freshman Martin Iosefo (Leilehua '08) had four catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns and junior Kekoa Perbera (Mililani '06) caught two passes for 12 yards. Safety Scott Keiter-Charles (Castle '07) had eight tackles and an interception.
» New Mexico State senior La'Auli Fonoti (Kahuku '04) had nine tackles in a 20-14 loss to Idaho. Vandals freshman linebacker Robert Siavii (Leilehua '08) made one tackle.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
» Washington junior libero Tamari Miyashiro (Kalani '05) had 14 digs and three assists in a three-game sweep of Washington State. The sixth-ranked Huskies are on a five-match winning streak.
» Oregon State junior setter Camilla Ah-Hoy (Kahuku '06) had 40 assists, five digs and five kills in a three-set sweep over Arizona. A day later, she finished with 37 assists, six digs and five kills in a three-set loss to Arizona State.
» Nevada sophomore outside hitter Kylie Harrington (Saint Francis '07) hit .267 with 16 kills in a four-set victory over Utah State. Freshman Tatiana Santiago (Kamehameha '08) chipped in seven digs and five assists. Nevada plays at Hawaii tonight.
» Pepperdine sophomore Kealohilani Kea (Kamehameha '07) finished with 51 assists, 12 digs and an ace in a four-set loss to San Francisco.
» South Dakota State sophomore setter Melia Iwamoto (Kalani '07) finished with 30 assists, eight digs and a kill in a three-set loss to North Dakota State.
