8 Holy Family students honored

Eight students of Holy Family Catholic Academy were awarded Navy Region Hawaii appreciation certificates for their drawings on energy conservation.

Their artwork and other award-winning entries will be on display at the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange till Nov. 10.

Winners include Mikey Archuleta, Nicole Ishii, Kristen Koike, Brenton Yasuoka, Mahinalani Cavalieri, Sarah Hawley, Gavin Moulton and Edmund Zafrani.

  Firefighters Eric Neuhart, Conrad Fernandez and Steven Lee of the County of Maui Department of Fire and Public Safety were promoted to the rank of captain.

They all began their careers in the same recruit training class 15 years ago.

Foodland Super Market Ltd. is donating $1.5 million to nonprofit organizations this year as part of Give Aloha, Foodland's Annual Community Matching Gifts Program. Foodland and Sack N Save customers gave more than $1.2 million to their favorite nonprofit organizations from Sept. 1 to 30.

Foodland and the Western Union Foundation complemented that with a $300,000 contribution.
