Coast Guard ends search for kayaker
The Coast Guard suspended a six-day search for a missing 26-year-old kayaker last seen last Saturday near Kapaa Beach Park on the Big Island, according to a news release.
The Coast Guard was notified Sunday morning that Miguel Ferrufino failed to return from a paddling excursion.
Coast Guard, Navy, fire and Civil Air Patrol crews searched more than 22,000 square miles, focusing on the North Kohala shoreline between the Big Island and Maui and the southwest waters of the Big Island.
A Coast Guard official said no sign of Ferrufino was found.

Suspect sought in knifepoint heist
Police are looking for a man who robbed a man and woman at knifepoint Thursday night in Wahiawa.
Police said the man, 25, and the woman, 18, were walking on Lehua Avenue at 11:05 p.m. Thursday when a man approached them with a knife and demanded their money.
Police said the man took the victim's wallet and drove off in a white truck.

2 men arrested in assault on girls
Police arrested two men yesterday for allegedly sexually assaulting two girls, 12 and 13, at a Kaneohe home.
Police said the girls reported they were sexually assaulted by the two men in a Kaneohe residence at 2 a.m. Monday. No further details were provided.
Police arrested an 18-year-old Kaneohe man at his home yesterday morning on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault. A 20-year-old man with no local address was also arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault and third-degree sexual assault. Both were released pending further investigation.
Man is identified as robbery suspect
Police arrested a 20-year-old man yesterday who allegedly robbed a 17-year-old Kailua boy who was riding a bike in July.
Police said the man allegedly cornered the boy at a parking lot on Kailua Road, demanded money and punched him in the head. Police said the man was identified after an investigation and arrested yesterday.
WAIKIKI
Box jellyfish swarm beaches on Oahu
Lifeguards found 750 box jellyfish yesterday in the Waikiki and Ala Moana areas.
The Ocean Safety Division reported 45 people were stung by the jellyfish in Waikiki, and six at Ala Moana Beach Park.
A woman in her 20s and a woman in her 40s were taken in stable condition by ambulance to an area hospital from Waikiki. Ten box jellyfish were found at Hanauma Bay, and one sting was reported.
