Kolten Wong had two hits and scored two runs and Hawaii varsity came back from a four-run deficit to earn a 4-4 tie in yesterday's alumni baseball game at Les Murakami Stadium.
The alumni jumped on Rainbows starter Jayson Kramer for four runs in the first inning. Justin Frash hit an RBI single and Evan Zimny hit a two-run double with two outs.
Hawaii answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Wong led off with a triple, and two errors by the alumni helped the Rainbows pull within one.
Hawaii eventually tied the game in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Greg Garcia to score Wong, who led off with a walk and stole second.
Freshman Connor Little and sophomore Sam Spangler combined to pitch 5 1/3 perfect innings in relief of Kramer.
Josh Schneider tossed seven innings of three-hit ball for the alumni team. Kris Sanchez, Jon Hee, Brandon Haislet and Isaac Omura were a few of the alumni who played in the game.
Hawaii opens the regular season Feb. 20 at Les Murakami Stadium against UC Irvine.
