The city's 23rd Annual Holiday Wreath Contest is seeking entries once again as part of its traditional Honolulu City Lights celebration.

Decorated wreaths will be accepted Dec. 1.

The contest offers three categories: adult, which includes any individual or group, ages 18 and older; youth, individual or group, ages 17 or younger; and theme, any individual or group that best depicts this year's theme, “;Holiday Heroes,”; to honor heroes in our lives. Residents may enter more than one category, but each wreath may win only one award.

First-, second- and third-place winners in each category will receive ribbons and monetary awards of $150, $100 and $75, respectively. The overall Best in Show winner will receive the Mayor's Holly Award of $200, and six Judge's Choice Award winners will each receive $25.

Entries will be accepted only from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Lane Gallery of Honolulu Hale (530 South King St., Diamond Head end of the ground floor). A completed entry form, available through the Mayor's Office of Culture and the Arts, http://www.honolulu.gov/moca, must accompany each wreath.

Judging will be based on workmanship, creativity and use of materials. Winners will be notified by Dec. 12.

All entries will be exhibited in the Lane Gallery throughout the Honolulu City Lights celebration from Dec. 6 to Jan. 4.
