Man, 19, arrested in Waikiki assault
Police arrested a 19-year-old man who allegedly punched another man in Waikiki early today following an argument.
Police said the suspect Shortly after 2 a.m., the suspect, Tanielu Daniel Melei, and a 21-year-old man were arguing shortly before 2 a.m. When the victim walked away, Melei followed him and allegedly punched him.
Police arrested Melei on Kanekapolei Street. He was charged with third-degree assault, and was being held in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Arrest made in sex assault of girl, 13
Police arrested a 32-year-old Ewa man yesterday who allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl .
Police said the alleged sexual assaults occurred between 3 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Sept. 4. The man was arrested on suspicion on three counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of third-degree sexual assault.

Crews rescue man at Blowhole
Firefighters rescued a man who fell about 40 feet near the Halona Blowhole Wednesday night.
The man, in his early 20s, fell onto a ledge about 10:50 p.m., said Capt. Earle Kealoha of the Honolulu Fire Department.
Firefighters followed a drainage pipe leading to the shoreline to get to the victim.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition. Before firefighters arrived, a female in her late teens suffered a head injury as she tried to rescue the man, Kealoha said. She was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

6 fishermen rescued off vessel
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued six fishermen from a disabled fishing vessel off Kaneohe about 6 a.m. yesterday.
The wife of one of the fishermen called the Coast Guard at 10:46 Wednesday night to report the group was overdue from a day fishing trip on Oahu's Windward side. The Coast Guard made contact with the fishermen, who were about six miles north off Mokapu Point. The vessel was spotted at 12:29 a.m. The Coast Guard's 87-foot patrol boat Ahi reached the area at 5:49 a.m. to tow the boat back to shore.

Drug suspect in federal custody
Big Island police have turned over to federal authorities a 36-year-old airline employee who was arrested in Kona for alleged crystal methamphetamine trafficking.
Police and federal agents arrested Brandon Kawika Hinsey near his home in Kealakehe Wednesday for allegedly possessing more than 1 pound of crystal meth. Officers searched the man's apartment and sport utility vehicle Wednesday and recovered a loaded .38-caliber revolver.
Police said the arrest was related to an investigation that began at Keahole Airport. Two Guatemalan men, ages 30 and 32, were arrested, and released yesterday morning without charges, police said.
Police recover munitions at home
Big Island police and federal agents recovered nine altered training hand grenades and about 4 pounds of black gunpowder Wednesday from a Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision home.
They also recovered three rifles, ammunition, fireworks and two threaded metal pipes. Police had evacuated about 20 people from 10 homes in the area near the King Kamehameha Boulevard house after a search began 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, revealing a grenade.
An Army explosive ordnance disposal team arrived at 3 p.m. and police re-entered the home and recovered the explosive devices, weapons and ammunition.
The occupants of the house — a woman, 50, and two men, 53 and 22 — were arrested on suspicion of prohibited ownership of weapons and explosive devices. One suspect was also arrested for suspicion of obstructing government operations and resisting arrest. They were released pending further investigation.
