Woman accused of stealing copper

Police arrested a 24-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon after she was found allegedly stealing copper.

At about 4:20 p.m. police responded to a report of a suspicious person walking around a building at 1405 Dominis St. in Makiki.

Police found the suspect in a truck with a copper drainpipe.

The pipe matched a section that was missing from the building, which belongs to a realty company.

Decomposed body found along shore

An autopsy is scheduled next week on a decomposed body found yesterday in Kapoho on the Big Island, according to a news release from the Police Department.

Big Island police received a report of the body at about 11 a.m. along the shore near the Kapoho lighthouse.

The identity of the body will be determined by fingerprints or dental records, police said. The case was classified as a coroner's inquest.

 

Man is missing from care home

Big Island police are searching for a 69-year-old man who has been missing from his Hilo care home since Thursday.

; Roy Matsumura left his residential care home at about 8 a.m. Thursday, police said.

A Care Hawaii caseworker reported seeing him at 6:30 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Wainaku Avenue and Wailuku Drive.

Matsumura is described as Japanese, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds, with short gray hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing jeans and a green or floral print polo shirt.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call officer Darryl Castillo at 961-2385 or the Police Department's nonemergency line at 935-3311.
