“;Megalodon, The Largest Shark That Ever Lived”; has arrived from Florida at the Bishop Museum, its first stop on a national tour.
It will be on exhibit from Oct. 11 through Jan. 11 in the Castle Memorial Building. Discounted admission will be offered to Hawaii residents and the military on Family Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Florida Museum of Natural History developed the exhibit, featuring a 60-foot-long walk-through sculpture of the gigantic shark that vanished about 2 million years ago.
The exhibit also will provide information about the health of the oceans and survival of threatened species.
Sharks have existed for more than 400 million years - 200 million years before dinosaurs, according to the museum. The story of the prehistoric Megalodon and modern shark specimens will be presented in the exhibit.
