Man faces charges in bank robbery
Authorities charged a 34-year-old man who allegedly robbed the Kaimuki branch of the Bank of Hawaii on Thursday.
Peter J.W. Jones, who has no local address, turned himself in to police Saturday after a bank surveillance photo was featured on a CrimeStoppers bulletin. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
He was charged yesterday with violating a federal bank robbery law.
Jones allegedly approached the bank teller and demanded money, threatening to use a weapon. The teller then gave him an undisclosed amount of cash, and the robber then fled.
Suspect in custody after 2 robberies
Authorities charged a 34-year-old Ala Moana man yesterday with first-degree robbery for allegedly robbing two adult entertainment stores.
Police were able to identify Preston Keoki Gabriel by fingerprints he left on some items at Suzie's Secrets on Kapiolani Blvd., according to a police affidavit. The store was robbed Aug. 18.
He then fled in a silver Nissan Altima.
Police said a man entered Suzie's Adult Superstore in Waipahu Sept. 11 and robbed an employee at knifepoint. The employee handed over $350 in cash from the register, and the suspect fled in a silver Nissan Altima.
Gabriel was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of promotion of third-degree dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Kalihi shooting suspect is charged
Prosecutors charged a 34-year-old Waikiki man with assault and terroristic threatening for allegedly shooting a firearm at a group of people in Kalihi and hitting one man in the leg.
Jeffrey Miguel Tolentino was arrested 12:53 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.
Tolentino drove up to a house at 1722 Kaumualii St., where a group of friends had gathered shortly before midnight Friday.
After an argument broke out, he got into his truck, drove several houses away, got out and allegedly fired three rounds from a handgun at the group, police said.
One round struck a 27-year-old man in the leg, police said. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
Tolentino was charged with second-degree assault, four counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, possession of a firearm as a felon, another firearms offense and drug charges.
His bail was set at $200,000.

Missing man, 28, could be on Oahu
Big Island police are searching for a 28-year-old Honokaa man who has been missing since Friday and may be on Oahu.
Kalanihuia Forbes, who has a medical condition that may require medication, was last seen 11 a.m. Friday in Honokaa, police said.
Forbes is described as Hawaiian-Mexican-Caucasian, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, with brown eyes, shaved black hair, a goatee, and various tattoos on his arms down to his knuckles.
He was last seen wearing a black Harley-Davidson button-down shirt, black jeans and brown loafers.
