PUZZLES
Ken Ken? Yes you can can!
If you are a Sudoku fan, welcome to your new addiction.
Today's print edition introduces a daily number puzzle, Ken Ken, created by Japanese educator Tetsuya Miyamoto as a way to teach his students math concepts.
The name translates to “;cleverness squared,”; and like Sudoku the puzzle involves filling in a grid of squares with numerals. The difference is that some of those numbers are determined through math equations.
For example: Two squares are grouped together with the notation “;3-”; in the top left. This means the two numbers in the squares must total 3 if one is subtracted from the other.
Get it? Grab a copy of today's print edition and turn to Page D9 for the first puzzles. Two will run weekdays and Saturdays—one easy, the other a bit harder. Try them for a few days, then tell us what you think: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
