The Honolulu-based telecommunications company has appointed Rose Hauser as senior vice president and chief information officer.

Last quarter, Eric Yeaman hired six senior executives shortly after replacing Stephen Cooper as president and chief executive.

The company, which turned 125 years old last month, is attempting to reverse slumping Internet profits and expand into video services as earnings have continued to be impacted by a loss in land-line subscribers.

The company lost $30.5 million in the three months that ended June 30, in contrast with a profit of $21.4 million a year earlier.

Hauser, who joined the company Sept. 8, oversees Hawaiian Telcom's information technology and systems integration. She is responsible for developing and implementing IT to support and drive the business, particularly the delivery of new products and services, the company said in a statement late yesterday.

“;I am pleased to have a person of Rose's qualifications and experience join our senior management team,”; Yeaman said in the statement. “;Rose will lead our strategic initiative to develop innovative technology solutions to support new product offerings to meet the changing needs of our customers.”;

Hauser has experience in information technology and billing systems in the telecommunications industry including positions with MCI, XO Communications and Bell Atlantic.

She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and a Master of Science in finance from Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.
