Police say Uzi brandished in auto shop robbery

Three gunmen, one of them armed with an Uzi submachine gun, robbed seven people at an auto body shop in Kalihi Kai early yesterday, police said. ;

The gunmen entered R & L Auto Service Inc. at 1924 Homerule St. about 12:30 a.m. after the business had closed for the night, police said.

All three men had their faces covered and one of them was armed with an Uzi submachine gun, while the other two were armed with 9 mm pistols, police said.

There were six men and a woman in the shop, all employees, police said. The gunmen ordered them to move to the garage and lie on the floor.

Police said the suspects ordered the victims to empty their pockets.

The victims placed all their money on the floor. The suspects took the money and fled, police said.

There were no injuries, and no suspects were arrested.

Police provided no other description of the suspects. Management at R & L Auto Service declined to comment yesterday. The three suspects are wanted on suspicion of first-degree robbery and second-degree burglary.
