Thirteen new cases of H1N1 influenza (swine flu) were confirmed today on Oahu by the state Health Department’s Laboratories Division, bringing Hawaii’s total cases to 71.
The latest cases include seven school-age children, one infant in contact with a previously confirmed case and five adults. One adult acquired the disease out of state and one had contact with a previously confirmed case, a health department spokeswoman said.
Two had no history of travel or association with anyone with the virus and the other adult case is still being investigated, she said.
Sixty eight of the state’s cases are on Oahu, two are on the Big Island and a Maui resident became ill and was hospitalized on the mainland before returning home.
