...Charlie Beeck, owner of Tropical Roofing and Raingutters, knows his steak and that's why he picked Wolfgang's Steakhouse as the spot for both of us to celebrate Saturday night. March 13 is his birthday and my 42nd anniversary at the Star-Bulletin. Charlie's wife Atsuko and daughter Kealoha helped us celebrate. G.M. is Amir Ibrahim and Bill Nickerson is manager ...

...Dean Pitchford, a 1968 Saint Louis School alum and the writer/creator of “;Footloose,”; will have plenty of hometown support when his musical is presented by the school's drama guild Friday through March 22 at Mamiya Theatre. Pitchford originally granted his alma mater the first worldwide rights to the stage musical in 2002. This year's Drama Gala Premiere Night on Saturday will be a class reunion for Pitchford. Honorary gala chairmen and classmates from his 1968 class — Jim Nicholson, Buddy Los Banos, Russell Siu and Chris Pablo — will host Saturday's gala, a benefit for the Fine Arts Drama Program at Saint Louis School. Tickets for the gala performance are $100 with a heavy pupu reception at 5:30 p.m. and curtain call at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for other performances run from $15 to $22. “;Footloose,”; which garnered Pitchford nominations for an Oscar, Golden Globe and a pair of Grammy Awards in 1984, was turned into a Broadway musical in 1998 and is celebrating its 10th anniversary on stage. The stage version received four Tony Award nominations. Call 739-4862.
