Arnoult advances to semis in doubles
Beth Arnoult of Paia, Maui, went 1-1 yesterday during the wheelchair tennis competition at the Paralympic Games in Beijing.
Arnoult lost her quarterfinal singles match against Jiske Griffeon of The Netherlands 6-3, 6-0.
She rebounded 2 hours later to team with Kaitlyn Verfuerth to win a doubles quarterfinal match.
Seeded fourth, Arnoult-Verfuerth defeated a team from Great Britain, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2. The match lasted more than 21/2 hours. They advance to today's semifinal.

Kalaiwaa gives HPU victory
Hawaii Pacific's Tami Kalaiwaa scored on a penalty kick with 34 seconds remaining to give the Sea Warriors' women's volleyball team a 1-0 victory over Academy of Art University yesterday at Atherton Field.
The Sea Warriors (2-3) had twice as many shots on goal as the Urban Knights, who fell to 0-3-1.
