She served as the director of the Reading and Language Arts Center for the College of Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is survived by husband Herbert Baeher, and sisters Virginia Nemecek and Shirley Knickerbocker. Services to be held in Clay, N.Y. Ashes to be scattered at a later date in Maui off Makena.
