WAHINE VOLLEYBALL
Rainbow Wahine get starting assignments
If there is a message the Hawaii coaches are trying to send to the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team it is this: play hard or go to the bench.
Four days away from the season opener against defending champion Penn State, head coach Dave Shoji has set a starting lineup ... sort of.
"As I told the team this morning, it's all subject to change," Shoji said yesterday.
Penciled in as of yesterday's practice were sophomore setter Dani Mafua, junior hitter Aneli Cubi-Otineru and junior libero Jayme Lee. Also junior Amber Kaufman and sophomore Amanda Simmons at middles, freshman hitter Kanani Herring and, of course, All-American hitter Jamie Houston.
"Well, this is what we are telling the team as of today," UH coach Dave Shoji said. "But as we told the team, the lineup is subject to change.
"Nothing is set in stone. The lineup may change game to game, or from match one to match two ... everyone has a chance to start or contribute."
