Maruyama named to nonprofit group post

Lisa T. Maruyama, former executive director of the Pacific and Asia Affairs Council and vice president for public affairs at Bright Light Marketing, was named president and CEO of the Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations.

Joanne Lo Grimes, Terri Ann M.K. Motosue and Marcia K. Schultz were appointed new managing partners in June of Carlsmith Ball LLP law firm, which has eight offices throughout the Pacific region.

Grimes, who has been with the firm in Honolulu since 1995, is vice president/president-elect for Hawaii Women Lawyers and secretary and director for the Hawaii Justice Foundation. Motosue started with Carlsmith's Honolulu office in 2004; and Schultz, based in Saipan, started in 1989.

Michael A. Rosenberg, president and general manager of KITV in Honolulu, was re-elected to national vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for a one-year term.

Ariel A. Rilveria of Seabury Hall in Makawao, Maui, received $8,000 from Hawaiian Cement's 2008 Scholarship Awards Program, which recognizes college-bound children of its employees. She is the daughter of Clinton Rilveria, and will attend Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo.
