PPV slate set for UH
If you want to see the final day of the 2008 Rainbow Classic basketball tournament on television, you'll have to buy the University of Hawaii pay-per-view package or know somebody who did. For those subscribing to pay-per-view, the order form from Oceanic Cable landed in their mail boxes this week.
The package has 11 football, four men's basketball and three women's volleyball games for the 2008 season. Ten of the football games are set, including the season opener at Florida that has a local kickoff time of 6:30 a.m. The 11th game will be either Washington State on Nov. 29 or Cincinnati on Dec. 6.
The three Rainbow Wahine volleyball games are UCLA on Aug. 31, Cincinnati on Sept. 7 and Pacific on Sept. 12. The four men's basketball games are Idaho State on Nov. 18, Eastern Washington on Dec. 13, UC Riverside on Dec. 23 and the final day of the Rainbow Classic that includes the championship and third-place games. Head coach Bob Nash hopes his team is in the Rainbow Classic final four this year after finishing last in 2007.
The cost for the 18-game package is $430 on Oahu and $210 on the neighbor islands if you didn't subscribe last year. If you are renewing your order from 2007, it is $380 on Oahu and $185 on the neighbor islands. You can also order individual games, ranging from $25 to $60 on Oahu and $12.50 to $30 on the neighbor islands.
