UH garden to host coffee talk

Head to the University of Hawaii Urban Gardens 9 a.m. to noon July 12 for some coffee talk.

Dr. Skip Bittenbender, UH specialist in coffee and cacao, and coffee scientist Shawn Steiman will be the featured guests at the gardens in Pearl City for "Second Saturday at the Garden." Bittenbender and Steiman will explain how coffee and cacao plants fit into this design and will conduct demonstrations.

While there, take a stroll along Boardwalk Garden and see a collection of plants that offer an example of what can be done with a landscape using colors, shapes and textures.

Steiman also will sign copies of his newly released book, "The Hawai'i Coffee Book: A Gourmet's Guide from Kona to Kaua'i."

Call 453-6050.
