Typhoon aid passes $7K

More than $7,000 in cash donations have been raised so far to help victims of Typhoon Fengshen in the Philippines.
A fundraiser yesterday raised more than $5,000 said Geminiano "Toy" Arre of the Filipino Community Center. Another $2,100 has been mailed in.
Arre is bring 12 boxes of medical supplies from the Aloha Medical Mission to the Philippines tomorrow. The supplies, valued at $10,000, are being transported free of charge on Hawaiian Airlines.
Arre will also go to the areas hit by the typhoon to determine where the donated money should go.
Initially, Arre said, money will go to the Aloha Medical Mission and areas hardest hit by the June 21 storm, including Ilioilo province and Romblon island.
The fundraising drive will continue until the middle of next month.
Donations can be sent to the FilCom Center, 94-428 Mokuola Street, Suite 302, Waipahu, Hawaii 96797 with a note that the money is for the Philippine Typhoon Relief Drive.
