For this group of couples, golf may promote togetherness

I don't know if golf plays a role in keeping married couples together, but three pairs in an Oahu Country Club "Gang of 10" will be marking their 50th wedding anniversaries this year. They are: Celia and retired Maj. Gen. Edward "Rick" Richardson, a former state adjutant general; Margie and Ralph Kiessling, and Bev and Pat Perry. They will celebrate with a golfing trip to the Big Island in July. Cyrena Bryan is the fourth member of the wahine foursome in the "gang" that has been playing together for 20 years ...

Pierce Brosnan, who starred as James Bond in four pictures, was the cover story in Sunday's Parade insert in the Star-Bulletin. The headline read, "How's life post-Bond? Pierce Brosnan says: Welcome to Paradise!" In the story, Brosnan raves about living in a Kauai beachfront home with his wife and two children. Pictures of Brosnan at home in Hawaii can be seen on Parade.com ... Guys who feel they have the looks of a Brosnan should enter Hawaii's Most Beautiful Men contest Sept. 6 in the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Takeo Kobayashi and Eric Chandler of 2 couture expect more than 30 men to compete. Call 538-6690 for more info ...
