Student writers’ work bound for anthology
The
Hawaii Conservation Alliance Foundation, Hawaii Conservation Alliance and the
Pacific Writers' Connection announced 25 winners of the "My Hawaii Story Project," based on writing about what makes Hawaii special. The work by sixth- through eighth-graders will be published in an anthology.
The winners are Quinn Cowan, Danielle Huang, Zeke Kearns, Allie Kim, Jason Loui, Alexandra Masaquel, Amane Morigami, Andrew Okimura and Lewe Stanaland, 'Iolani School; Camille Larkins, Island Pacific Academy; Paris Marie Bell, Emma Drake, Tanya Haverly, Kiana Ringuette and Amber Sam Fong, Kailua Intermediate; Hillary Oki, Kapolei Middle; Toni Beck, Kau High and Pahala Elementary; Minjeong Kim and Mikeala Owen, Kula High and Intermediate; Lance Chee, Erin Ichinotsubo, Gabriel Iwamoto, Tori Lynn Loo, Zachary Pang and Kellie Yamada, Na'au School.

Kapolei Property Development gave its 2008 Kapolei Outstanding Achievement Awards to Rich Griffin of Island Pacific Academy, environment; 2007 Kapolei Sunset Festival Committee, community service organization; Michael Leskovec, Makakilo-Kapolei Lions, community service; Margarette Pang, Dyslexia Tutoring Center of Hawaii Inc., education; James Matthew Stamm, North Star Scientific Corp., business leader; and Mike Rennebu, Hale Pono Boys and Girls Club, young leader.
