Oahu gas hits $4

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline passed the $4 mark on Oahu yesterday for the first time.
Statewide gas prices broke another record at $4.13 per gallon for regular, according to AAA's fuel gauge report. In Honolulu, the average price for regular was $4.02 while premium was $4.33 and diesel was $4.93.
Lex Brodie's on Queen Street was still selling gas at $3.95 a gallon for regular, but only if you paid cash. Credit-card purchases were at $4 a gallon.
On the neighbor islands, $4 gas is old news. The average price ranged from $4.12 in Hilo to $4.45 in Wailuku, both record highs.
The most expensive gas in the state yesterday might have been at Hana Gas in Maui, where a gallon of regular gasoline was $4.89.
Plus-grade gasoline was selling for $4.99 a gallon and super for $5.09.
When told that the average price of gas just reached the $4 mark on Oahu, a gas station attendant who did not want to give his name responded: "Oh my goodness. (We) had that a couple years ago.
"Ah shucks, that's cheap!"
