It’s time for ‘Teena’ to move on
We're sorry to say aloha today to a favorite role model of the tweener crowd -- "PreTeena." Creator Allison Barrows has stopped work on the comic strip, and its last appearance was in yesterday's comics section.
But it could just be temporary. Barrows has mentioned that she hopes to give "PreTeena" a new life online, and a book may be in the offing.
Replacing "PreTeena" starting today is the weekday version of one of our Sunday strips, Paul Gilligan's "Pooch Café."
Gilligan is particularly pleased, considering that he and his significant other are regular visitors to the islands.
"Pooch" revolves around the main character of Poncho, but Gilligan said the daily strip is "actually in the middle of a somewhat complicated story arc."
The romance between the pooches Droolia and Poo Poo has been challenged by out-of-towner Prince Chomping. Prince has been spurned by Droolia, who loves Poo Poo, so Prince has challenged Poo Poo to a duel.
Gasp, how will it turn out? The heated story will play out over the next two weeks, after which Gilligan promises to "return to more 'standard' Pooch Café fare."
