ILH captures 6 more crowns
The dominance of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu continued yesterday, as the Oahu private sector took home all six state championships held in the island chain.
The most surprising took place at the track and field championships, where the Kamehameha girls made history. They captured the school's first title in track since the event began in 1967.
Punahou held off Radford to capture the boys championship in track, but the Buffanblu were toppled by rival Iolani for the state championship in Division I boys volleyball in a tightly played three-game gem. The Division II title in boys volleyball belongs to Hawaii Baptist after the Eagles upended Hilo.
The Division I softball championship also belongs in the ILH's trophy case after Kamehameha blanked Mililani 3-0. Warriors pitcher Amber Waracka won all three games via shutout. The Division II softball winner was Pac-Five in a 4-2 victory over Kauai.
