Lantern Floating exhibit features photos by David Hume Kennerly
An exhibit on the Memorial Day Lantern Floating ceremony opens today at Honolulu Hale.
Featured are 25 images by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer David Hume Kennerly, a short video about the festival, and three "parent" lanterns that carry prayers for those who have lost their lives in natural and man-made tragedies.
During the ceremony, smaller lanterns will carry individual prayers.
The exhibit runs through May 23. This year's lantern festival takes place May 26 at Ala Moana Beach Park. Call 942-1848 or 947-2814 or visit www.lanternfloatinghawaii.com.
