Lawyer to be honored for work with child victims
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Thalia Murphy will be honored at "Mahealani, Night of the Full Moon," the Children's Alliance of Hawaii's eighth annual fundraiser, May 10 at Moanalua Gardens.
Murphy will be recognized for her 24 years of prosecuting child sexual abuse cases and providing assistance to victims. Attorney General Mark Bennett will present the award, and Chief Justice Ronald Moon will give the keynote address.
Other law enforcement officials dedicated to fighting abuse cases will also be recognized.
The evening will include a dinner by chef Beverly Gannon of Maui's Hali'imaile General Store, silent and live auctions, and entertainment by Maunalua and the Maridian Jazz Band, an all-lawyer trio.
Tickets are $175, with table sponsorships available for $2,500 to $10,000. Proceeds support programs for sexually abused children. Call 599-2955, ext. 216, or visit www.cahawaii.org.
