Powerhouse Gym Honolulu hosts the first annual event, which features a "Hawaii's Strongest Man Competition" and music by Kalapana, Three Plus, Ernie Cruz Jr. (pictured) and Cory Oliveros.

Slewfoot

Dragon Upstairs / 526-1411

Slewfoot, a New Orleans-based guitarist and brother of Castle High School teacher Dan McLaughlin, arrives this week for a brief Hawaii tour.

Following appearances at Ward's Rafters and on the air at KIPO-FM, he'll perform at the Dragon Upstairs next week. Slewfoot will be joined by Hawaii residents Jordon Namahoe, Abey Qureshi and Terry Theison; cover is $5 at the door.
