Maui center hosts whale of a contest for singers
Do you have what it takes to be a whale singer?
Two passes for a whale watch, donated by Pacific Whale Foundation, will be given away daily to "Whale Karaoke" winners at "A Whale's Life Presentation" in Maui Ocean Center's Marine Mammal Discovery Center at noon, today through Saturday.
A whale-watching booth will be set up in the Harbor Plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Friday, along with fun craft stations for the kids to enjoy.
The center is also hosting a sleepover focusing on whales, for children in grades 3 through 8, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday and ending at 8 a.m. Saturday.
The cost is $70 per child with a 15 percent discount for members.
