by Jill Victoria Bicoy DeHayward
(Vantage Press, $8.95, via amazon.com)
DeHayward, who grew up on Molokai, dedicated this collection to her father, the "Sage Turtle" of her book's title. The poems and song lyrics reflect on family and the bits and pieces of life, as influenced by his legacy.
"Sometimes I find myself talking to him;
though I know he is no longer here;
but I believe wherever he is in heaven,
he's never too busy to hear me up there."
