RESTAURANT REPORT
Benefit will open Sansei on Big Isle
Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar opens at the Big Island's Waikoloa Beach Resort next Sunday with a benefit event for Hawaii Island United Way.
Sansei specialties -- and those of guest chef Jackie Lau of Roy's restaurants -- will be served at tasting stations throughout the restaurant, along with wines, beers and sake. Cost is $100. Call Hawaii United Way, (808) 935-6393.
The restaurant, at Queens' MarketPlace, opens to the public the next day, offering a menu concept new to the Sansei chain: Diners will be able to mix and match from Sansei's neo-Japanese specialties and the dry-aged steaks of d.k steakhouse. Both restaurants are owned by chef D.K. Kodama.
The Waikoloa location will be the largest of Kodama's four restaurants, with seating for more than 200 and a 28-seat private dining area.
Call 886-6286.
