An Ohio man arrested at Honolulu Airport for allegedly packing two loaded handguns in his suitcase has been charged with two felony counts of firearm possession.

The state attorney general's office dropped three lesser misdemeanor charges for failing to register firearms at Christopher L. Hollie's arraignment in District Court yesterday.

Hollie, 28, appeared in court with shackles on his ankles and did not say anything when presented with the charges.

On Friday night, Hollie refused to tell Transportation Security Administration officials the reason he was traveling with a loaded .45 handgun and a .9 mm semiautomatic weapon packed in his check-in luggage, according to court documents. The handguns were found wrapped in clothes.

He was arrested at 9 p.m. before boarding a Northwest Airlines flight.

Hollie's bail is set at $25,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
