Kamehameha-Hawaii makes it

Defending Division II state champion Kamehameha-Hawaii entered the Star-Bulletin Girls Basketball Top 10 for the first time this season at No. 9.

Coach Kalani Silva's team lost 41-38 to No. 4 Hilo on Thursday, but topped Waiakea 68-57.

Punahou collected 13 of 15 possible first-place votes to remain No. 1 for a third week in a row. The Buffanblu went 1-3 at the elite Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz., last week.

Moanalua opened Oahu Interscholastic Association regular-season play with a 3-0 record last week, but didn't crack the Top 10.

The poll has narrowed significantly since early December, when 21 teams received at least one point in the first voting. Only 14 teams got votes in today's top 10.
