Hilton Waikoloa offers events timed to celebrate the holidays
The Hilton Waikoloa Village welcomes the sights and sounds of the holidays in December. Here's a listing of the hotel's holiday offerings:
» Holiday Train Display: The model railroad train display created by executive sous chef Alfred Mueller measures 22 feet by 16 feet and is inspired by the movie "Happy Feet." On view in the main lobby.
» Camp Menehune holiday drop-by activity: Complimentary activities for children under 13 include cookie decorating, ornament making, stocking decorating and more! Offered at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 17 through Jan. 1. Call (808) 886-1234, ext. 1202, for more information.
» Hawaiian Arts and Crafts: Join 'Anake Keli'i for contemporary and traditional Hawaiian crafts. Make Hawaiian glass Christmas ornaments, coconut husk angels, shell angel ornaments, lauhala boxes and flower leis. Sessions run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 18, 20, 22, 25, 27 and 29.
» Holiday Family Fun: Scavenger hunt at the Lagoon Beach Shack, at 10 a.m. Dec. 19 and 26.
» Holiday Cheer Hawaiian Style: Listen to holiday music and island favorites by the Na Kaholoku Trio, in the main lobby, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 20 to 22, 24, and 27 to 29.
» Holiday Paniolo Cookout: Feast on barbecue favorites including kalbi ribs, spicy buttermilk country fried chicken, Cajun fish fillets, garlic butter Dungeness crab clusters, and steamship round of beef on kiawe spit. The cost is $53.95 per adult, $29.95 for 65 years and older, or teen (13-18) and $19.95 for ages 5 to 12, inclusive of tax and gratuity. From 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 22, 26 and 29.
» Holiday Signature Brunch: Kamuela Provision Co.'s oceanfront lanai is the setting for breakfast and lunch with an ocean view. The cost is $42 per adult, $34 for ages 65 years and above or teen, and $21 for ages 5 to 12, plus tax and gratuity.
» Christmas Eve: Listen to a reading of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" and other winter stories with milk and cookies on the Lagoon Lanai from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Dec. 24, then celebrate the holidays at 8 p.m. with the Cavalry Community Church singing and performing hula in the main lobby, followed by a candlelight service at the base of the grand staircase.

» Christmas dining: Kamuela Provision Co., Donatoni's and Imari will feature customized holiday menus ranging from $82 to $95 per person, plus tax and gratuity, on Christmas Day. There also will be a holiday dinner buffet and Christmas brunch at Palm Terrace for $60 per adult and $30 per child, plus tax and gratuity. The brunch is from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and dinner is from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
» Holidays with Chopsticks: Sushi class offers information on how to buy fresh fish and cut and prepare it properly. Learn to create a variety of sushi rolls, sushi on rice (nigiri), spicy sushi, and how to display and serve it. Enjoy lunch featuring the food prepared by participants, paired with sake. The cost is $53 per person. Class starts at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 at Imari. Class size is limited.
