ASUH partial tuition winners named

The Associated Students of the University of Hawaii at Manoa gave its Fall 2007 ASUH Partial Tuition Awards (worth up to $1,000) to these undergraduates:

Academic Achievement -- Lailaine DelMundo, Elizabeth Abe, Evan Mosier, Jaime Uota, Adina Wakayama, Neil Onizuka, Jose Carlos Tome, Lisa Tsubouchi, Christy Ann Gilman, Robert Holloway, Wui Pin Puah, Priscilla Stafford, Xing Sun, Nejc Zemljak.

Unique Situation -- Yukari Akatsuka, Susan McGorty, Janelle Funtanilla, Lisa Ha, QiongJie Huang, Cherina De Silva-Hsia and Kent Koster.

The association also awarded 10 High Financial Need scholarships.

Kamehameha Schools seniors Kaui Awong and Ikaika Correa received Certificates of Excellence at the National High School Journalism Convention competition in Philadelphia. Awong, arts and entertainment editor of Ka Moyi, the student newspaper, won for review writing. Correa, sports editor, won for sports writing.

The nonprofit Kulia Na Mamo received a Critical Needs Assistance award from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs for a pre-employment preparation and training program. The agency focuses on the needs of mahu/gay lesbian bisexual transgender Hawaiian and other Pacific islanders.
