Indians to add Santos to roster

West Oahu CaneFires pitcher Reid Santos wasn't around for last night's deluge at Hans L'Orange Field that forced a rainout of the Hawaii Winter Baseball's championship game, but he did receive some good news before departing for the mainland.

Drafted by the ballclub in the 13th round of the 2002 MLB Draft, Santos didn't sign with the club until the following May. With the CaneFires, he had an 0-1 mark and two saves with an ERA of 5.24. In 22 1/3 innings, the left-hander struck out 26 and walked 13. Santos yielded 13 earned runs and 21 hits, including one home run.

The 25-year-old began the season with Class A Advanced Kingston, where he went 2-0 with a 3.44 ERA in 35 appearances. In August, he was sent to Double-A Akron, where he finished the season 1-0 with an ERA of 2.61 in nine relief appearances.
