Judiciary employees receive awards

Several Hawaii Judiciary employees received awards recently. Karen Radius, an Oahu Family Court judge, was named the 2007 Jurist of the Year by Chief Justice Ronald Moon. She helped establish the 1st Circuit Girls Court in 2004. Lani Ng, a judicial assistant to Judge Ronald Ibarra of the 3rd Circuit (Big Island), received the Meritorious Service award. Secretary June Amaral of the 2nd Circuit (Maui) and Evelyne Luk, a probation clerical support supervisor of the 1st Circuit District Court, both were given Spirit of the Judiciary awards. David Kauhola of the Kaneohe District Court and Neal Hamada, Facilities Branch of the First Circuit, were given Certificates of Commendation.

The Hawaii Foodbank's second annual "Canstruction" 2007 contest collected 42,000 pounds of canned goods. In+form Design won the Juror's Favorite award with its "Corn'undrum" (ear of corn); Ferraro Choi & Associates, Structural Integrity award for "i-tiki" (tiki with iPod); Peter Vincent Architects, Best Use of Labels, "an inCANvenient truth." Ferraro Choi also won the People's Choice and Most Pounds Donated awards. Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo and the KYA Design Group won honorable mentions.
